It’s been a few years, but we finally have a flerd (cows and sheep together) again. It’s way easier to care for them as one group rather than two. The second batch of chicks has arrived, and we’re getting the slaughtery ready to cull the first batch next week. The first eggs are here (yum) and the veg is growing, but we still have frosty nights – spring it is…
In this farm update;
- 0:42 Walking the sheep
- 2:38 And it’s a flerd!
- 6:18 The market gardens
- 7:47 First eggs
- 10:06 The flerd after a few days
- 11:00 Getting the slaughtery ready
- 13:22 Market gardens and nursery
- 4:39 New chicks arrive
Do you have (or have you had) a flerd? Any tricks to share? Or maybe you”ve been inspired to build your own on-farm slaughtery and have knowledge on how to navigate regulations?
